Your thoughts on contests/winners

7 years 3 months ago #171682 by Rose H
Hi Gus,
If your group runs lots of contests, then you could include it in your bylaws, but that's not common practice. There are specific rules for running contests and you can find lots of templates for contest rules by doing an Internet search.

It would make sense to have a separate contest rules template on your group's website or at least on file if anyone inquired about them.

The bylaws should cover general policies about financial procedures, voting and other core group business, so, again, if contests are a big part of what your group does, then you could include.

Here's a link to a good post about what should be in your bylaws: www.ptotoday.com/pto-today-articles/arti...good-are-your-bylaws

Also, here's a link to our sample bylaws that you can use for updating your existing bylaws: www.ptotoday.com/filesharing/document/65...-today-sample-bylaws

Hope that helps!

Hello,

I am currently in charge of researching our bylaws to update them as they are severely out of date. Do you have clause in your bylaws in regarding to contest winners?

Whether it's one winning per person per year. Or can't be the chairperson's family. Or limiting the dollar amount of winnings per person.

There are just ideas that I have come up with and wondering if it is a valid worry - or if it should be left out of the bylaws?

Gus.
