Fun Night Food

9 Years, 5 Months ago

Please help! I've been given the assignment of planning the food to be sold (cheap enought so that everyone can afford) at our annual Fun Night. Every voiced that they were tired of hot dogs and walking tacos, but had no ideas for a change. I'm hoping that you can share your ideas and what worked for you! Thanks for taking the time to help me.

We have Albertsons supermarkets here in Arizona that has a bugdet to help schools pull off fundraisers. We receive meat usually half price and buns and such at a reduced price. In the past we've had 'shredded b.b.q. beef on a bun, which many people had in crock pots cooking all day. We also approached a local pretzel and chip factory and receive free products. A local bottler of soda would do the same. Safeway will always let you go over on limits during sales. Just be bold and remember you will get nothing if you ask for nothing!

We usually get party mix, ice cream and orange drink and give it away to everyone that comes to our family fun night.

How about a community partnership with a local fast food company ? Perhaps you could talk to the rep and ask them to sell the food and the school could receive a percentage of the profits from the event.

We did that with our local McDonald's, We received 10-20% of the total sales between the hours of 4-7. We sent fliers home with the kids saying when and what time, our principle even dressed up and passed out balloons, I can't say exactly what we raised, ( I don't know) but I sure it was at least a few hundred. But the important thing, the kids had fun!

We do an annual chili supper. We contract with Runza, a local fast food chain (Wendy's
does it also.) For a very reasonable cost ($2
gross per head) we get everything including dessert provided. They serve and clean up.
We do chili, chicken soup, and a vegetarian soup. We send home pre-sale envelopes and charge $2.50 per student and $3.50 per adult.
We make a small profit with little work. We also work with our school counselor to make sure that any families who may not be able to afford to attend have the opportunity. We
sponsor approx. 10 families each year.
It has been very popular! Good luck!

Subway Sandwiches work well also. You can get the 3 foot party subs and slice them. Chips and drinks round it out.
