silent auction ideas

17 years 5 months ago #83268 by diemsellersares
we have each grade level (includes about 4-5 classes per grade level) either do a basket of themed items (movie basket, cooking basket, coffee basket, etc...) some grade levels hold an ice cream party. one grade level bought a live potted flower and stuck in 5 gift cards from various places: mcdonalds, starbucks, ice cream shops, block buster etc...

our PE teacher holds an afterschool softball game for the first 32 kids that sign up.

parking space and front row seats to the next school performances is always a hit!

I just typed in today on yahoo --silent auction list...and got a slew of pages with various school and companies with lots of ideas.

We are looking at expanding our non-monetary ideas at our next silent auction. I have seen great ideas such as pizza part with a teacher, lunch with a teacher, etc. In these cases who pays for the pizza or lunch part? Is this part of the payment by the parent? or does the teacher agree to pay this upfront? or does the PTO cover it?

we have been doing a live and silent auction at our school for the last four years and we have been very successful raising over $35,000. one of our popular items is principal for a day which has bid at $1700 another good one is auctioning 1st in the lunch line for the school year. I have lots of ideas so contact me if you would like some more. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

On this website's Bonus Tools page, there's seven pages of auction ideas gleaned from all the old posts over the years. You can download it at www.ptotoday.com/bonusTools.html

No, it is with a specific teacher. The principal asks every teacher to donate something. The most popular were the events with the younger children because fifth-graders aren't real fired up about going to the movie with their teacher! Here are some of the things our teachers have done:
*picnic in the park
*lunch and a trip to Barnes and Noble
*swimming party at the teacher's house
*slumber party for a group at the school (Middle School)
*shopping trip to Dallas for a group

Hope this helps!

When you do the "with the teacher" things, are you naming a specfic teacher or letting the parents designate the teacher they desire when they bid?
