hello, we are moving to a new elem school and voting began this month for board positions. i ran for vicepresident. i was told the president was apponted by the pricipal because he wanted her to remain as president because he knew and trused her and since going to the new school the pta pto needed to get stated there. my question is, is this right? all the board member's are the same. other pta parents wanted new board member's but asince the nominating commitee were running for board they voted for themselves. I thought this want allowed. everyone fells like it wrong and dont know what to do. where can i go or who can i talk to about this to motion this? can the principal help? i dont know, and feel this is wrong. thankyou

It doesn't sound right to me. Our school polls the entire school bodys parents.

You need a copy of the group's by-laws. In it, the nominations process should be cleared spelled out including who is eligible for nomination and how voting is conducted.
