Property of PTA

We are an elementary PTA. For the past 4 yrs, our board has consisted of myself as president and another lady as treasurer. Parental involvement is nil. We have done the majority of the work ourselves.

Over the past 2 years, we worked our buns off and purchased a popcorn machine and an industrial sno-cone machine along with carts to carry them and all the supplies.

Our current principal has run our school into the ground. Next year, my children will no longer be attending and my treasurer is resigning.

We sent out a plea for nominees for next year and received not one response. NOT ONE. So we are left with no board. If there is no board, there is no PTA. The property we have purchased then belongs to the PTA council.

We are thinking of gifting the items to the school at the end of the year. Our concern is that we aren't sure if they will take care of the items (they total well over $1000). Also, if the current principal is there next year, well, we don't have confidence in her.

If we don't gift them, they will go to the council and there is no guarantee that OUR school would get them back if a PTA board steps up.

Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing?
