Coming together to build a gymnasium

8 Years, 6 Months ago

Hello - I am a PTO member of a small, parochial regional school. Last a year, a group of us formed a committee witht he school's principal to build a playground. We raised almost $8,000 to do so. Unfortunately, the prinicpal retired and we now have a new principal who is dead set against building any playground whatsoever. Her goal, she states, is to build a gymnasium on the school grounds so the school can finally have organized sports activities and a place for gym class, other than the church basement. Although we are disappointed that there will be no playground, we would like to go ahead with the gymnasium goal. My question is, how do we get people involved? We need to have some sort of start-up plan as far as funding is concerned, but don't know where to look. The parents are weary since the money we raised for the playground did not go to what is was intended. We'd like to have grant funding to present to the parents, however we don;t know where to look. Any ideas?
