Hi Andrea-
I posted your question over on our Facebook page and asked specifically about starting a support group for parents with kids who have ADD or ADHD . Hope this gives you a place to start. Here is the website of the online group that was referenced: thecoffeeklatch.com/ I bet someone who participates in that forum will have some experience with how to start a support group. It's a wonderful idea- I wish you the best of luck.

Also, wanted to point you to our sister site that has some good resources for parents:

Hi Everyone! I just wanted to share a couple of things. I have responded to some message boards but some are old and wanted to pass along some information.

Our PTO was just honored by our gym teacher who was the president of the WAHPERD. We got a serice awared for our PTO and I am so proud.

We are putting out a cookbook for our school. Not so much as a fundraiser, but a monento for our students. We have decided to put containers in the room of the students and colored by grade. The student will bring for example - Kindergarden - cookies and candy recipes. They have to bring one recipe for that portion but can bring other ones as well. The PTO will have thier favorites as well. We are very excited about this. We are doing the work ourselves and having it devided by classroom and letting the classes do artwork for thier section. Our art teacher will be doing the cover. We are doing all the typing and binding for our cookbook.

To try and show our teachers how much we appricate them, we have a "Getting To Know You" sheet for them to fill out - 6-7 teachers are picked every month to fill this out and to display where everyone can see it. Not only are we apricateing our teachers but also any parents who do not not know them can get to know them as well. We give them a small gift as well. Our volunteers we are doing the same for.

Another parent and I are starting a support group for other parents who have kids who have ADD-ADHD. This is something that is a big need in our area. Anyone have suggestions?
