Teacher Appreciation Week

Just curious how you fund your teacher appreciation week? I've not been able to attend our elementary schools PTO meetings recently, due to a work change, to have input on this event..Anyways, a note came home from school the other day requesting each child to bring in 2$ to fund the teacher appreciation week (there are about 650 students in the school)..In addition the note requested individuals to also bring in food items for breakfasts-ie muffins, donuts, juices, homemade items etc..I guess I was offended by these requests after reading in the PTO meeting minutes for April that the PTO has $32,000 to spend on playground equipment...SO, just curious how your schools do it..Maybe I shouldn't be offended??

I was talking with some of our teachers the other day and they pretty much stated that if they had coffee provided everyday they would be ecstatic. Of course we're doing more than just coffee, but that did seem to be their one main request.

Thanks dlf for sharing that poem! It made me cry! It's so hard for me to believe that this school year is almost over and my child will move on to another class. I've enjoyed her teacher so much and the line that says "She'll tell them she loves them and makes sure they hear it" is so true for my daughter's teacher. I hear her tell all her students that - even the ones that are sometimes hard to "love".

We are doing Jams!!! We have an awesome Orchard that also has Apple butter! So the notes say for the Jams... You are the Jelly to our PBJ, with out you we could not add up the nuts! and for the Apple butter it says You are the Apple, just sweeter

We are giving the teachers Kudos bars with a note that says "Kudos for being such a great staff". For your flowers, maybe, "Thank you for helping our children blossom."
