Nov Fall Festival Ideas Please...

16 years 7 months ago #138170 by MVMom
Goldfish booths are always a hit. We are doing one for my sons class and I got a local pet store to donate the goldfish. Rather than getting live goldfish though we are handing out certificates to go to the pet store to get thier prize. The store really likes this idea too because they are more likely to sell a bowl and all of the essentials needed for your new pet. I went to the big corporate stores first and didn't have much luck, the first local store I went was very excited about helping us though.

One really cool thing to do is get a very large pile of hay,, and hide prizes all through the hay have the kids stand around it blow a whislte, they dive in and dig through the hay finding and keeping whatever they may. You may want to have a time limit, and let groups of 5 or so go at one time. We bought most of our prized from oriental express. Also you could substitute leaves for the hay

Last year, my kids' school did a Wild West themed end of the year party. I created a Panning for Gold station, which was a huge success. We spray painted the larger size fish tank pebbles gold, used two plastic kiddie pools, bags of sand, bags of cement rock from Home Depot, filled it all with water. We used tin pie plates and the kids panned for gold pieces that they got to keep. Believe it or not, the water does not get muddy like some thought it would. Other games were; a laso game (used with a rope and a hula hoop), Jail-correct geography/math answers were the key to getting out.

If you have a place nearby, have pony/horse rides.
Have kids try to spin a rope or lasso various objects.
Use water pistals to shoot down plastic cups with western pictures attached to them.
Trivia or word seaches with famous outlaws and sherrifs included
I love the jail idea.
If you could figure out a way to sift for "gold", that would be fun. maybe hide some plastic gems in sand, use a play sifter to scoop into the water to bring up some sand and see if they come up with any gems.
playing Cotton Eye Joe would be a huge hit since kids love that song.

Doing it for my one and only ~~ my son!

I always like face painting or even simple temporary tatoo application.
