Pancake Breakfast

2 Months, 1 Week ago

We are having a Pancake Breakfast next month with a Halloween theme. I've never done one of these before, so I was hoping for some ideas.

We are going to serve pancakes (obviously), muffins, fruit salad, juices & coffee. Did we forget anything?

We plan on doing a few Halloween themed crafts and are still figuring out the details on that.

Are there any Halloween activities or games we could play? (This is for a preK & kindergarten group.)

Also, what do you think is reasonable to charge?

THANKS

Bean bag toss into a plastic cauldron, coloring page station, decorate a trick or treat bag-- or buy the sticker scene sheets from oriental ... and I would talk to your local fire department-- they put on pancake breakfasts a lot-- so they might have equipment you could use or they might even volunteer to work

FoxMom- that's a great idea to check with the fire department for equipment!!

Kimamas-
Re: games- here's a few ideas:
- kids love the mummy wrap game where you use toilet paper and have a race to see who can wrap a child into the mummy the fastest
- Donut on a string eating contest
- if you have an outside area you can use a scarecrow building relay is fun

If you want some printables to have at tables check out some of these fun halloween activities from out sister site:

My preschool always had a pancake toss on the mornings when we did a pancake breakfast! The children came in their pajamas and would line up at a masking tape line. Turn their back and see which one (two at a time) to see who could throw it the farthest. It was sooo fun! Of course, those are separate pancakes from the breakfast...lol

Also, they have "Grandma's Slippers Race" where the children race, 2 by 2, with their feet in open shoe boxes. They must slide them along to the other end, turn and come back their feet still in the shoe boxes.

Fun!!

I don't have a clue about the rest of your question. I'm sure you'll have more input, though.

Our local Applebee's will host a Flapjack Fundraiser. It's a great event. You charge $5 per person for pancakes and bacon or sausage (with extra pancakes if requested).

Applebee's returns $4 so in the long run you are only charging $1 per breakfast.

The catch is that we have to provide wait staff, drink servers, and dish washers. We even had a friendly competition to see who could earn the most tip!

We are a tiny school of 75 students and we raised over $1,000 in just a few hours.
You should check it out.

We held one of these last year in Massachusetts. It depends on the Applebees. Ours uses paper dishes and plastic utensils. We could have sausages if we supplied them as extra and brought them ourselves. They preferred we not do bacon as sausages were much easier. Also last year it was 1.00 PP but now it is 2.00PP and they suggest you charge 5.00 PP. We needed servers but no dishwashers as we used disposable things but did have to clean off the tables. It's a nice fundraiser and if you add a character like santa or something they will also allow you to take photos as well.
