parents night out

Has anyone ever hosted a parents night out at your school? A night where parents can drop the kids off at school and have a couple of hours of free time to shop, date night or just relax at home without the kids. Kids will have fun playing games, watching a movie, and enjoy snacks. We plan to charge $20 for 4 hours maybe 6pm-10, I would love feedback or, suggestions, I was thinking to have it in December , parents can have a couple of hours to shop for Christmas or maybe February around Valentines, just brainstorming....

I think that's a great idea! I have spoken with some many people that do not have anyone to help with the kids. I bet it will be a hit....in fact I'm going propose it at your next meeting!

This idea has me thinking......we are a k-8 but this would be great for k-5. Maybe put the 4th and 5th grade together for candy bingo and k-3 with a series of activities. We could ask student council to help out and lead the younger students in games. Include a supper of pizza, drink and dessert and charge $15 for 6-9 with a family cap of $30. I love the idea of doing it in December. My only concern would be too many children and not enough support. This probably could be avoided by doing a pre-registration and an absolute no registration at the door policy. I think I may propose this at the next meeting. Thanks for the idea!

Double check with your insurance. Our school was going to do this too but our insurance would not allow it unless we bought seperate coverage at high rate depending on the amount of kids.

Our elementary school did this and only charged $10. That included pizza, drink and movie. I believe it was only for three hours, though (6 - 9 p.m.). The second (and on) child was only $5.

All children had to be students at the school, though. Be careful that you stipulate the ages/grades of the children who can come. You probably don't want babies, toddlers or preschoolers!
