Disco Party Success

Hi Everyone!

We planned our disco party for last night. It was a huge success! We sold mardi gras beads and glow bracelets 2 for $1.00, popcorn and juice was 2 for 1.00 and feather boas were 1.00 with free admission. We got prizes donated for a costume contest. The school has K-3 with about 500 kids. I stopped counting about 15 minutes after we started at 220 people! We made just short of $400, which was amazing, considering it was a "free dance" The teachers helped get the kids involved by having a costume contest during lunch, and all of the kids voted on their favorite. Everyone had a great time!

We didn't do it as a fundraiser, just something to try to get everyone together to have some fun. The school doesn't generally have a lot of PTO participation, about 3 people a month, sad to say. Hopefully this has changed peoples minds!

Taft-
Awesome! What a great way to start off the year.

Congrats not only on a successful event but also on figuring out how important it is to build community at your school. Bet your enthusiasm will be contagious. Just remember not to judge your PTO participation on how many people come to the meetings but instead on how many parents volunteer and participate in your events.

Keep up the good work,

~ Lisa
