Well, rnbowmom, your character and your work, not your lifestyle, should be what people know you for. If you're positively and actively involved in your kids' lives, you're an asset to the parent group and the greater community.

I wish i was just begining. I have been volunteering since my son was 4. Headstart was a pain because there are so many more rules. But I enjoy it and even more so I enjoy the fact that I can walk in the school, or around town and everyone knows I am the PTA mom. Not just the lesbian mom of our town. I have gotten respect just from being apart of my kids' school and lives.

Wowwweeeee...... $220 for a homecoming get-up. And that's for my son. I thought having a boy would make things like homecoming and prom more affordable - no dress/shoes/jewelry thing along with hair, makeup and nails that girls have to do - but I guess I was wrong. Add $25 for her corsage, then dinner and it's a $300 night. Yikes. Shorty needs to get a job.

Don't let us scare you. Despite how bad it sounds sometimes, teenagers are wonderful. It's a different kind of parenting challenge but I'm enjoying this phase of my son's life as much, if not more, than any of the others.

8 and 5. Your years of parent/school involvement are just beginning!

its good to see there are still parents/families involved as much as we are. Its even better to see parents talking to get through the rest of life. (although I was starting to think there was no outside life LOL)

Unfortunately I don't have any teens, but y'all can scare me with your stories until I get there. I have 2. 8 and 5. I live one of those untraditional families so please forgive me from the begining if my responses are odd. :D

Hey rnbowmom! Welcome. :) This is the place to unwind. Sit back and relax.

I'm having cinnamon coffee and a blueberry muffin. Everyone - help yourselves, there's plenty to go around.

If you haven't already caught the youtube buzz, check out this SNL skit of Tina Fey as Sarah Palin. Hysterical. The accent is spot on.
