I am thinking of contacting Chamber of Commerce for major cities Atlanta, NewYork Chicago etc (and some more local to me) and requesting "baskets" of items.. getaways to resorts, hotels, tickets to events etc. Has anyone done this and have you had any success? Suggestion for letter also ??

May be different in other areas, but around here a better contact for the types of things you listed would be the CVB (Convention and Visitor's Bureau). Maybe contacting both would be good. I'd be interested in how it turns out.

My own experience is that they might be referral source but you still have to solicit from the specific businesses.
