“We have a ‘new family/buddy family’ program that kicks off with a welcome dinner. The buddy families (existing families who have volunteered for this job) call to introduce themselves to the new families and offer to answer any questions about the new school. Then we meet for a potluck dinner. The buddy families bring the food and sit with their new families. Our Home & School Association provides drinks, a few door prizes to make it festive, etc.”
