How many years can a person be President

1-What does your bylaws say 2-What are the feelings among the general membership of your group. It is always good to get in new officers after a couple of years, it sounds as though this would only be your second year which in my feeling would be fine as long as eveything else goes along with it. Your board however can't decide it, your membership has to and even if they say yes I would go the whole route of election and ballots, that way you have that paper record.

For the record I need you to sit down when I tell you I am getting ready to start my sixth year as president, I am the only president our group has ever had. Each year we have always had new officers for all of the positions except president. Even with begging, pleading, brainwashing, asking, training, etc no one wants to take the post. One year I admitted that I would probably not do the whole year and they still elected me, this is after I said I was thinking about quitting.

Yes I am still learning as a leader, I have binders and binders to pass on, this year I am going to start mini 'lessons' at monthly meetings to show people it isn't that bad. I have really delegated more and more, it is hard to get someone who really wants to do and if you are willing, and they want you to go for it! Just make sure that you don't become a click, our group volunteer numbers and rising each year and that is telling us we are still doing okay, if the numbers were dropping then we know it is a time for a change.

Technically, in our school, it is for as many years as you get elected. However, we tend to go thru people due to burn out, stress, middle school, moving, getting jobs, etc. Does your by-laws have term limits? That is really what will tell you what you need.

GOOD LUCK!

I started out on the PTO board as VP. Now I'm President. I've worked hard and many have asked me to come back next year. My treasure and Secretary do not want to move from their post. My VP is fine with another year to of getting his feet wet. Can the my PTO board be the same board next year?
