I've heard lots of fall carnivals include the "Silent Auction Bid" baskets for an all day event. It keeps people coming back later in the day to check out their bid, and keeps the fun ongoing for a few popular baskets.

We traditionally do the "Silent Auction" basket bid event our our annual PTA Founders Day luncheon and have a fun time, good spirit, and a bit of rival action on the high school baskets that are themed "Spirt Basket of name of high school".

have fun!

These are all excellent ideas. I plan on incorportating them into our Carnival, or giving them away for coming to meetings. The possibilities are endless.

more ideas...

Favorite Sports Team -- local college or professional team car flag, t-shirt, tickets (try to get them donated), etc.
Gardening -- gloves, tools, seeds, kneeling pads, etc.
South of the Border -- chips, salsa, chip-n-dip bowl, accessories with Mexican flair
Beach or Summer Fun basket -- pail, shovel, pool "noodle", mask, fins, snorkel, sunscreen, etc.
Book/movie basket -- pair a book and movie from the same book or a similar genre; add microwave popcorn, etc.
Harry Potter basket
Scooby Doo basket
other favorite tv/movie/book character basket -- whatever is popular in your area

good luck!

oops, almost forgot this one: stuff a basket with things related to your school -- t-shirt, mascot (stuffed bear, or whatever), bumper sticker, yearbook ... whatever you have

Our soccer league does a chinese auction every year. WE always have a wonderful turn out.

This past year we also did it with our school for the first time. It was a huge success and between my sons and myself we won 4 different baskets and a gift certificate.

What we do is go to our local stores and ask for certificates like - Red Lobster, Chi-Chi's, Pizza Hut, free rotating tires, hair cuts, oil changes, etc.....

We also have had many themed baskets which turn out beautiful they were:

Book baskets, lottery ticket baskets, christmas baskets, school supplies, Holiday paper supply basket (napkins paper plates napkins a candle and candle holder a wooden snowman), sidewalk games basket, sports basket, Fall basket, Halloween basket, Spa or Gym basket, Gatorade basket, Spaghetti dinner basket, Italian basket, cleaning supplies basket, games basket, longaberger basket, beanie babies baskets, etc.....I'm sure I've listed enough.

Every class or team decides on their own for which basket the would like to donate. We have raised quite a bit of money every year doing the auctions.

best wishes,

renee
