Vp of PTO husband a registred sex offender

16 years 11 months ago #132401 by CrewChief
There is always more to the story, isn't there...

This is not a PTO issue, this is a safety issue. The PTO has no authority over this person or his wife. Her role within the PTO has absolutely nothing to do with the situation you're facing.

I can't understand this. Someone was at the school without the school knowing? During school hours?!?!

And a grown up, any grown up, taking pictures without anyone knowing why?

Sounds like serious security breaches. I would, as a parent, speak with the principal immediately and demand that he put a stop to this.

Also, call the police. If the offender is on school property, he's probably violating his parole. Unacceptable.

I'd rather be wrong, and risk hurting feelings than know that another child was hurt due to an uninvolved community.

We have strict check in procedures at our school, you cant just walk in.
We also run bckgrd checks on all volunteers.
Sounds like your school needs to look at thier security measures.

The woman is the Vice President of the PTO. Her sex offender husband has been at school without the school knowing about it. And the Vp of the pto was seen taking pictures of the kids without anyone knowing why. Just sick, don't know if this woman is not giving her husband info, can only assume the worst. Sorry to sound so negative, but NOONE WANTS TO HELP!

I hope your school has policies in place that prevent SOs from volunteering at school and at events. If they dont, they you have every right to be concerned. THey shuld have such a policy. Talk to your principal or super and ask what their rules are for volunteers.
Parents should regularly check their states megans law website, and see what SOs live in their neighborhoo, or have moved in.
It *should* be the schools job to keep them off campus butthey arent always aware themselves, depending on how they operate

It's good to know that the regisered sex offender system in your community is working. Years ago, nobody knew who was or wasn't. Knowledge is power. Scary..... put powerful.

So, I'm a little unclear. Are you saying that the Vice President of your school's PTO is married to a registered offender?

Remember that he is the criminal, not her and not the children. Treat her the same as you would any other volunteer on your team as she has all the rights and freedoms as any other parent in the school.

Surely the school is aware of this man. Hopefully they have a strong security system in place to keep the students safe during the school day. At any after hours events hosted by the PTO, just be vigilent and aware of who is in attendance. Not to the point where the VP and her child(ren) are made to feel uncomfortable, but as you would during any PTO hosted event.

Although you do have reason to be upset, unless he is visiting the school, there is nothing you can do. "The sins of one cannot be cast onto another". Just be wary whether there are any events at the school where spouses of your school staff are invited to participate and make sure he is not there. He would be violating the law if he were anywhere near a school and it would jeopardize your Vice Principal's job, so I doubt you'll see him there.
