TEXAN HERE. AND OUR GOV. IS RICK PERRY. HE IS DOING AN AWESOME JOB, JUST AS ALL OF THE TEXANS. I AM SO PROUD TO BE A TEXAN RIGHT NOW, I THINK WE HAVE TAKEN IN MORE THAN 75,000 PEOPLE. I AM ALSO PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN TOO. JUST LIKE ANYTHING ELSE, WE WILL STAND AGAIN!

Yes and we should. (aint life grand here in the USA, ya work hard to be educated, responsible, and you can prosper no matter what your race, creed or income bracket)
If a 4 day notice was missed (No respite camps, no food and water distribution points, no Nat'l Guard and state command and control center, no emergency evacuation plan, no evacuation of the sick, elderly and children) how do you think it gonna be when somenutball terrorist(s) attack 1 or 2 cities simultaneously (They're not gonna give 4 days notice)
The Gov's and Mayor's of these United States of America (with assistance from the Fed Gov't) better get their heads outta the sand or New Orleans will look like a minor catastrophe.

Noone here has said anything about these poor (or the poor- although the looting of stereos, elctronic equipment - I dont understand, no electricity and whom ya gonna sell it too) people getting what they deserve (no one should have to go thru that, even the knuckleheaded- most of the posts have asked why was such plans were not being implemented or already in place- No one should've been in New Orleans to begin with, I may be harsh with some of my critizism (sp?) but I was taught "IF your feet work, use 'em, help your neighbors and others. If someone had walked out, even with no where to go, wouldnt someone outside of New Orleans helped them, I think out of New Orleans would've been better than in, dont you?)

Some serious discussion needs to be made, some peoples feelings will get hurt (maybe, including mine), some may not agree (not always from lack of knowledge on the subject), some may agree but I prefer that to having the collapse of one of the greatest countries (or states) on the face of this earth.
(This is Democracy at work, working, and working to change, if need be)

Whether its Mother Nature or Religious fanatics bent on destruction, its not going to just go away and the State of Louisiana and city of New Orleans just weren't ready, let it people down and lots have died, been displaced and offered little hope. (That is what is truly tragic)

If none speaks up, it'll happen again!!

That is why all of these caring idividuals are here on these and other boards.
To get our children, our neighbors children, those whom dont have a voice and their children a quality education, a way to continue higher education and some social and moral responsiblity. So things like this dont happen.

I hear ya. Things usually work out in spite of people like that mayor, not because of him. Good people step in to pick up where bureaucracy leaves off.

Well Shawn, I done "W" pround yesterday at coffee and donuts after mass Sunday morning! One of the ladies was talking up a strom and I asked her if she forgot the Gov. and mayor were "asleep"! The City Manager in Des Moines Iowa was the one that called the Gov back in "93 to tell him there were going to be problems at the Water Dept. Yes the Mississippi was flooded but there was another river in the state that was ready and did flood and caused the city of Des Moines to go under AND we lost water for two weeks! Within an hour of his announcment, water stations were set at grocery stores, porta potties....we were being helped in a matter of hours!

Oh and to hear the Mayor swearing on the news at the goverment...what nerve! I want to help the people, not him. I do belive what goes around comes around and (the golden rule) to treat others as you would want them to treat you.

Okay...I need to finish painting!

Oh dont get me restarted on Oval Office Rendevous (or the fact that the most Powerful person (counting Hillary) in the world was not rendevousing with the most Beautiful woman in the world.)

Kennedy may have been a Dem but (even though its wrong to be an Adulterer) he was with MARILYN MONROE... not some ugly intern.

Slick Willy couldnt even abuse his power correctly (not that I condone that or would want it Rep or Dem) come on !!!

:D Hehe I'm done for today!!! Gotta go fire up the BBQ and Brats..
