Assembly Ideas Anyone?!

One that we have had that is free, is "Operation Life Saver". This is a very infomative assembly. They actually stay at the school all day to accomodate having an assembly for each grade level. Best of all the kids have fun too. Everything is age appropriate and they do it for all grade levels, it is really eye opening for the newly licensed teenagers. Even if parents feel that their children are never near railroad tracks, you never know when they will be. My father and brother are both engineers on the railroad and have seen many unnecessary deaths.

Our school just experienced the coolest assembly yesterday put on by Motivational Media Assemblies, based out of California. The Rep we worked with is in Vancouver, WA and her toll free # is 1-877-993-1113. The assembly was called "Champions". It was a DVD presentation displayed simultaneously on three movie screens and included clips from newer Movies like Pirates of the Carribbean, Finding Nemo, and music from artists like Hillary Duff and had people talking about what makes a Champion - someone who never gives up - not to bully, to make good decisions about things, and that understanding that Champions never quit even though they may make some mistakes. The woman I spoke with was named Kelli. If you decide to check into it, please let her know that you were referred by John McLoughlin Elementary in Oregon City, OR. Thanks! It was just awesome. Students, Teachers and Parents enjoyed it.

Don't know if you are still looking but loyd artists ( www.loydartists.com ) is an agency who only represent artists (musical/dance/storyteller) who have a educational mission. They are based in Asheville NC, I don't know if all their artists are from there, but we used them and they travel. Some of their artists are very well known.

Not sure how far up in the state you are. Our library had The Rainbow Show Puppets. They are based in Louisville, KY. I don't know any more details but they probably have a website.
