Not sure where you arre at but our zoo offers programs as well as the Science and Nature Museum. With a little paperwork and luck many of the museum's programs came toour school completly funded through grants etc we applied for through the center.

There are also great programs avaible from the hospital we learned about from a OB nurse in our group. They talked to our students about helmet safety and the seriousness of head injury. The Blood Center has even come to talk to our older students about the importance of donating and organ donors (we are K-12).

OOHH 1 more the State Troopers offer (I think it's them) Alive@25 program about drinking and driving. A little gorry but great for before Prom!!!
Hope that helps!!

We ordered crafts for every child to make and sell during our Fall Festival. We sold them any where from $.25-$1.00 and made a large profit. They loved it so much that the 4th did this during our Spring Fling. We ordered through Oriental and it didn't cost much at all. We had a large variety of magnets, door hangers etc. and were able to seperate them for age appropiateness. I had a sign up for the classrooms interested. I was expecting almost half and everyone signed up. And we got lots of hugs! It was well worth the time and effort and the kids got to test their craftiness.

Most kids bought their own. The kids who wanted theirs and couldn't buy got there's one way or another. ;)

I don't know of any hand on programs. But our second graders make clocks every year and bring those home. This is been a tradition for at least 5 years and it's a huge production every year.

I am looking for a hands-on program for grades K-5 where the children can take home what they worked on. Science related would be good but other subjects are fine too. Anyone know of any that I can contact?
