Hey Skate2000, thanks for the information. I think I will propose this to the principal and our PTO for next year.

I was looking for info to help some of the PTO's that host fundraisers and family nights at my rink and came upon this post. I am not personally in a PTO, but I work with PTO's on a daily basis and have found that their goals are, with few exceptions, the same as my goals. We both need to provide an exciting event/activity that is safe and fun for the children and parents.

I have used the hypnotist you are discussing. Richard is very professional and his show is very funny. Diane (deemariemcp) is right on with her comments about the show not being embarassing. His style of humor is funny, but it doesn't "make fun of" the kids, if that makes sense. I have a culturally diverse group here which can be hard to handle at times (to put it mildly) but Richard grabs their attention and keeps it until the show is finished.

One thing I can share that may give you some insight into the show is that I have a 17-year-old staff member that came back on his night off to volunteer for the show. He brought his mom and brother to watch. He is a bright kid who can be self-conscious at times so I was interested to see what would happen. He was fantastic. His mom loved it too. He thought it was great and volunteered again the next time Richard was in.

Overall, I think Richard does a wonderful job. He is good with the kids, his show is clean and I don't have to do any work or setup. He, along with his assistant(s), I think there were two helpers one night, do all the work. All I do is hang up a sign at the front counter and I get a larger number of students that night. Again, I am not in the PTO or part of a school, but I work with them on a daily basis and I have no reservations recommending him for any event, regardless of the audience.

Hope this helps.

I went to his website, and the whole program sounds very interesting. I don't think our school has ever done anything like that, but I'm pretty sure it would go over well. I hope someone out there has had personal experience with this show, and will let us know about it. :D

Hello
We are a k-12th school and the PTO is planning on holding a family fun night in June. They want to hold a casino night/magician/dance. This will not be a fun raiser and in fact will cost about $3000 and that does not include food. I feel that casino night is not appropriate for a school function (go ahead and call me a prude) so I have been trying to come up with alternates.

I found a web site for "Richard Harris Hilarious Hypnosis Show" and think that this would be a better alternative.

entertainmentthateducates.com

My question is, Has anyone heard of this group,
or has anyone had a hypnotist come to their school and was it a hit at school??

Talking to Richard, he informed me that his show does not embarass people by making them quack like a duck, or anything like that.

The next PTO meeting is next Tuesday April 26th and I would appreciate any information/thought/comments to go into that meeting

Thanks
-Diane
