Help Installing Playground equipment

18 years 8 months ago #55089 by dmg
Thanks to both of you. I appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thank you for your advice. I do have a call in to our highway dept to have the old equipment moved so hopefully they will call back. I'm calling the company we ordered from today to get a possible date of delivery. I have a dad who has some volunteers from a club he belongs to and he is going to take the book of plans they sent us to check it out and see what we need for equipment, etc. That was a huge relief. I like the idea of asking people in town-we just have selectman but it would be good pr for them. I was thinking of our volunteer firefighters too. They need a new truck and the vote is coming up so it might be good for them too. Thanks again, I'm feeling a little less overwhelmed. Dawn

Our school system (LAUSD), requires their people to dig the holes (Bobcat and Auger supplied by LAUSD) and check the asphalt and setup.

Does the school system have manpower available, local Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Councilperson or Assemblyperson (always need pub), any other NonProfit (Jaycees, Kwanis, Rotary, Toastmasters) for peoplepower?

We just completed a playground installation at our school and depending what you are installing it wasn't that bad. First I would contact the company and find out if you can get a supervised install done. Our company charged $800.00 for the day. Well worth it in my opinion. Unless you have a parent who is an engineer or architect or can read a footing plan you will need help.

Our county maintenance department removed the equipment. Ours was broken and was a safety hazard so they came out right away. Cheaper than a lawsuit.

When you get your volunteers, stagger them throughout the day. When putting the footings in you don't need alot of help. After that is when you need the bulk of the manpower.

Definately get a bobcat with an auger. You should receive a supply list from your vendor and make sure you have multiple items on the list.

With a little organization and a lot of good manpower you should be okay. Congrats on the new baby and good luck!

Our organization ordered new playground equipment over the summer that is due to be delivered around Sept 16th. I just found out through someone else that the present playground chairperson does not want to do it anymore. AAAAHHHH! I had a baby in June and was not as up to date on all the playground stuff as I should have been. The last few weeks I have been trying to have the chairperson call a meeting and have been trying to do stuff to get organized like call our town's highway dept to get the old equipment taken out. I'm am so overwhelmed right now with not a clue what to do. For anyone that has assembled their own playground do you have any suggestions, helpful hints, etc. Where do I start????
