Need BY-Laws / rules HELP on UnRuly Parent ASAP

It sounds as if assault charges are in order. In general, Roberts Rules do not permit anyone to speak unless they have been recognized by the chair and in the acceptable rules of debate, personal attacks are not allowed. The chair is expected to maintain order. In a situation such as this, if no one is willing or able to physically escort the party out of the meeting, I would seriously recommend calling 911.

With behavior like that, the school needs to get involved and ban her from coming inside the school. That solves the problem at a higher level.

Gosh, I feel so sorry for that woman's child.

I would do more then look at the by-laws I would be calling the authorities!

As to the by-laws, it depends on what yours says. Ours allow any member to attend any meeting at any time. Non-members may or may not attend at the board discretion. And to assure we don't end up in the same type of spot we also have it so membership, even if paid, can be revoked at any time for what the board would consider "just cause" with a 2/3 vote.

My "Robert's Rules" isn't as fresh as it once was but I do remember there being a caveat that anyone who is not formally recognized by the moderator can be called "out of order." If they continue in that behavior the moderator can ask for their removal on the basis it is disruptive to the session.

It is most likely best to have a strong moderator if this is what is going to happen though. Someone level but also someone who can be heard easily, knows the rules, and isn't afraid of the person in question. My understanding is that a moderator can be voted on/chosen by the President.

We had a parent go on a drunken rampage at a PTA event this weekend. It was an extremely significant incident. She attacked both verbally (F-Bombs) in front of hundreds of kids and physically to one of our officers. What is there that we can present to her to show that she will no longer be welcome at pta or pta events. Is there a bylaw for this? ASAP help needed. Meeting tomorrow w/principal/ president, and witnesses.
