Teachers running for board positions

Well teacher or not she only has one vote. Another thought is that a president simply chairs the meeting. So it is typically the executive board as a whole that holds any power. As long as she is a member she can "run" for office, unless bylaws state otherwise. Teachers are usually an asset. Hope all goes well.

We have had a teacher serve as Prez. and did a terrific job! She was at a dissadvantage as she didn't have any children BUT we had more teacher involvment than ever before! She was also able to remind teachers to reply to surveys we had sent out etc. I miss her a lot and wish more staff members would serve as an office.

This is my first year being able to run for a postition on our PTA board and I'm a little confused about how they are doing it. Are teachers able to run for board positions? I thought they were already a big part of it. A teacher was the president this last year and a teacher has always been in a high position. Everything they do seems to be geared more for helping the teachers and not the children. If I get the position that I'm running for I would like to help make alot of changes. Any suggestions would be great!
