Still need a board member!

22 years 7 months ago #56095 by mykidsmom
you need to go to the school district office YESTERDAY!!! WHy? Your PTO needs help and there has to be something of a red flag here that someone can help you with!
For old members to snub new members is outragous as I'm sure you are aware. We have 400 new students whom all have parents that (by our by-laws) are new members. For me to ignore these new parents would be suicide for me as the new prez!

Now that I think about it, if the district can't or won't help, hang in there because this officer team is really walking a line that is too tight for anyone. I have survived, hang in there.

I have checked, retyped, committed to memory, ready to ammend the whole thing our by-laws and nothing. I did learn since she never accepted her nomination or accepted the office she is not an officer. Just waiting to see if she comes to a meeting..... Thanks Jo

aconcernedmom- why are you asking the principal for by-laws? My principal doesn't even have a copy to give unless she gave hers away.
You need to talk to your officers or even past officers or long time mom's that have all that stuff. WHy are you bugging the principal about the Treasurer stuff? Where is the Treasurer, President, VP, Secretary? Isn't this mentioned at meetings in the minutes or treasurer's report?

Have you checked your bylaws? I read ours several times before I found the statement saying if a board member resigned, the exec. board should appoint a new officer. If I understand you correctly, your recent elections voted in the new treasurer (who is now having second thoughts). Check your bylaws first to find out the correct procedure. If the exec. board has the power to appoint someone in the event of a resignation, let the hesitant new treasurer know you've found someone else if she wants to resign. But be sure the new one REALLY wants the job first!

Well, I finished the election at my Sept. meeting that wasn't finished in May (a long story) and now my new treasurer is telling me she wished I would have waited to have the election as she is still thinking about the office! I talked to her 3x's this summer and my last conversation with her I said "so I can put you on the ballot" and she said yes!
The good news, I have another parent that came to me after the Sept. meeting and expressed an interest. Did I mention the other gal didn't even show for the meeting or call!
I'm wishing I could just apoint the interested parent and tell the other "thanks anyway". I can't though can I???
