Thanks KC Swan,

I am trying to go easy since this is my first year doing PTO. These people are good people and I am very straight forward. I will try patience.

They probably mean well, and almost certainly come from the "if you want something done right, you have to do it yourself" school of thought. As a result, they are coming off as micromanaging control freaks. The sad part is that in this direction lies burnout for them, and a lack of adequately trained replacements.

But if people who cannot delegate were rare, there would be no need for business consultants.

If I had strong feelings about our fundraiser, I would let our fundraising chair know. And I would expect her to listen to me. And I would expect her to give my comments the same consideration she does those of any other parents she hears from, and the fact that I'm co-President should be irrelevant. I would also expect her to go on and do her job the best way she knows how -- we elected her to the job, I would hope it was because we thought she could do it.

By-laws say she can't be 2nd VP/Fundraising chair again next year. Want to come to our school and take the job? I guarantee you that we will let you make the decisions, do the job, and accept the accolades for a job well done.

This is my first year on PTO ever! I am in the position of Fundraiser Coordinator. Things with our PTO seem to be very "fly by the seat of our pants" to me but I may only be uninformed. I am trying to ask questions but do not want to seem to be pushy. I have asked for a copy of the bylaws but was put off til later. I am going to ask again. Our school is in it's 3rd year. The very first PTO left nothing for the 2nd yr to go by. Most of the people this year are back from last yr. The Pres is in her 2nd yr. Our first FR this year was a big flop. We did Entertainment books but they did not want to send them home with students for fear of theft so it was "buying, sight unseen." These are nice people and I don't want to rock the boat but do not like this amount of disorganization. I have been coming to this sight to find out what others do and to get as much info as I can.

Thanks for any input.
