Help with Vice-prez, treasurer

17 years 7 months ago #62307 by CrewChief
Two things pop up in your message:

The VP decided the to resign and appointed the Treasurer as her replacement? What do your bylaws have to say about that? Buddies or not, I don't think an officer gets to just simply choose their replacement. She's leaving the group so it's up to the remaining officers and voting members to decide what's best.

I personally don't think the same person should be treasurer and fundraising chairman. Actually, this matter came up at my last school. The fundraiser chairman wanted to run for treasurer. I explained that it could be seen as a potential conflict of interest and asked if she'd relinquish the committee chair position should she win the treasurer slot. She readily agreed, stating that she did not want to put herself in a position to have her integrity questioned.

I agree that you and your president have plenty to do without the added VP responsibilities. Look to your bylaws for ways to appoint/elect a new VP.

Hey all,
Our VP decided to resign and she is buddies with the treasurer. She told me in an email that she is going to give her materials to the treasurer and the treasurer is going to handle it until we have someone else fill the position.
Here is my concern. The VP is the fundraising chair. Isn't it a conflict of interest for her to be in charge of fundraising and control the money??????? But the Prez and I (Sec) don't want to be stuck with the VP duties either as we already head up 5-6 other committees and the Treas. doesn't chair another one.
Please advise.
Thanks!
