Help! Principal Bullying Teachers

16 years 10 months ago #133587 by RobinD
beignets.. we have a parent who is confrontational at every turn.. as per your suggestion, i spent some time tonight on bullyonline.org.. holy guacamole... it fits her to a T.. and it made me understand how to deal with her in the future.. i also got some good info on pioneerthinking.com

ANYONE who has a pot-stirring confrontational parent, board member, ex board member.. or other.. ought to look at these resources..

THANKYOU, beignets

I can't believe that the teachers haven't gone to the union and asked for assistance or guidance with this. Better yet, gotten together and gone to the superintendent. That sounds like a hostile work environment and a form of harassment that would be illegal in any state and open for lawsuit. I couldn't work in a place if a person has to fear losing his/her job or reprucussions for speaking to certain people---especially parents of your own students!!!

I am utterly disgusted by the situation that you are in. A lot of principal's walk around with this chip on their shoulders and feel that they can do no wrong. We have a new principal this year, and she has taken our school to many bad places this year. Our teachers and staff used to smile and be in a great mood, but her presence in the building has brought about grief.

Our superintendent has been with us for over a year now, and he has made many negative changes in our district. He always sides with the principal regarding everything. We all feel that we are in a no win situation. If I were you, I'd speak to the new superintendent and try to do something about the principal.

bullyonline.org has lots of info on identifying bullies in the workplace.

good thing youre out of that school. usually, bad management gets outed, since most principals dont have tenure system.

if your prinicpal is really so bad, i am surprised they are still around. surely the super knows whats going on and wants to keep good teachers happy, and have well run schools

the unhappy teachers should bring their facts to the superintendent. its true, hearsay and unsupported complaints are worthless, it has to be documented complaint. and if the teachers have already brought their issues to the supers attention, why is that prinicpal still around? either the rumors arent true, or the super is not doing his job.

then its time to talk to the boe, if you have facts to support your statements

Sounds like the Superintendant of Schools, and if that doesn't work the town's School Committee is the best avenue at this point.

I can't imagine a person like that getting promoted to a Principal position. Perhaps the new PTO should bring in a " bullying" workshop for the students..

there's also a lot of info on line about adult bullying in the workplace.. if those teachers could get that info, and THEN start documenting specific incidents with time, place, etc.. then perhaps down the road they could present the info to her superiors.. but unless they document, no superintendent or school board will listen to hearsay.
