Hi: I know this is not a voicemail suggestion, but have you looked at SchoolNotes.com? Our Jr High teachers use this, and they mention it everywhere, we love it!! I know everyone does not have a computer, but most have access to one often like at work or home. This has been implemented so well by the Jr High, the elementary teachers are starting to use it. Just a suggestion.

After checking out homework hosting sites and listening to teacher & parent feedback I am inclined to use a voicemail type system for posting teacher assignments.

I would like to know if anyone has any recommendations for a (very) inexpensive voicemail type system - preferably one that can be installed with a modem into an existing PC.

We are on a very limited budget and most of what I have seen on the internet are expensive solutions geared towards businesses (eg VRU, ACD, PBX etc).

Basically we are looking for a system that each teacher can call into daily and post their homework assignment. Students or parents would dial in after 5 - punch in their teachers code and would hear the playback of their next day assignment (the teacher would have a password to post their message). We could also post the lunch menus, a principals message, weather alerts etc....

I also thought of approaching our local/regional telco to see if they can donate this service

Suggestions welcome...
