PTO to buy printers

I work for a software company and with printers you need to look at the volume of print jobs. Color lasers are wonderful, but they're pricey and the ink cartridges are real expensive. If the teachers are looking for just certain projects to be able to print in color, I would suggest a deskjet. The quality is great, they're very affordable and the ink cartridges are not that expensive compared to the lasers. I would suggest sharing one printer between grades to keep costs down. While I'm sure the teachers would like their own, it's not really cost effective when you have so many teachers to please. Deskjets should be fine for what they need. I'm sort of partial to HP's (Hewlett Packard's) because of their reputation in printers. That's what our office usually advises our customers. Hope this helps!

I am a new PTO pres. and have had my share of problems as seen here in the chat room. But my question pertains to how to spend a small surplus of PTO funds. We had a committee to come up with some ideas on how to allocate some $13,000. We then presented it to the members and after some debate came up with a list. One item on the list was to buy color printers (teachers requests). After much controversy we still can't decide on ink jet vs.laser / or a printer per classroom vs. a printer per grade/ or then maybe a printer per wing of the school. What makes the most sense economically considering that we are a relatively small school, K-8 with about 520 students. And how many of the schools even have color printers rather than black & white (our B&W laser printer is in the admin. office)Hope someone can help me with some ideas and sorry to go on like this...
