Principle causing confussion

22 years 3 weeks ago #63496 by mykidsmom
We can't get into the school unless the Principal or Asst. are there because they have the keys and due to security (stuff) the school has installed a whole system that is really nice but to do anything after school will take planning. Even our bus drivers have to be buzzed in durig school hours to enter the building. For us it's a saftey issue, I'm not sure if the Principal is so much king/queen of the castle as they need to be accountable for what is going on....

Our school has the same policy a principal or asst. prin. must be in attendance. We don't can't even have access to our school after school hours without one of them there. Somewhere I have heard that the principal is the queen/king of the school which is their castle. They have their own set of rules for how to run the school but then again they must follow district procedures. I don't know why they have to say it's a district policy when it's their own rule. I checked with our district and I was told it's according to how the principal wants to handle it.

I am the new PTO Pres. for next year. In passing I had a general discussion with the principle of our school and I was told that the PTO could not hold any activities at the school if she was not in attendance. I would like to see more family nights added (once a month, compared to never) but now I am worried that she will strike down these efforts. Does anyone know what the rules are reguarding this type of matter, or where I might check to find out?
