need to vent about various "appreciation weeks"

Just a quick story for you all...Our school used to do a volunteer appreciation night for everyone who helped during the school year. Everything that was "supposed" to be taken care of by the principal and school staff....but guess who ended up taking care of the entire event...you guessed it the PTO!!!

Hello I had to share my positive experience. I just sent out a flyer titled "What Has Your PTA Done For You This Year". I listed 29 things our PTA has funded, sponsored or supported this last year. This honestly did not include everything, it was more of an overview of the most significant things. I received a flyer with writing back in my folder. My first reaction was "Oh no, what did someone find wrong or offensive with it" (You can tell my skin is getting thin). However, it had a note from our school psychologist. It said... What an incredible list! That's a LOT to be proud of! There's no doubt in my mind of your effectiveness as PTA president. Thank you for everything. I broke down and cried in the middle of the school entrance way.

hey guys, thanks for letting me vent. I love this board! I actually went to my "real" job today, the one that pays the target bills. Naturally I complained there about this and they all laughed and said, "Look them right in the eye and say 'hey, you know what? It also happens to be national nurses week this week, what are you guys doing for me?'" I had to laugh. The funny thing is, the school nurse is the only one who hasn't complained about anything, she is thrilled that we are having a day for her. (unlike everyone else who is too busy worrying about who else is getting appreciated at the same time and not being happy about it.) Thankfully, it is the weekend now and I don't have to go to school until monday. Perhaps by then, the prozac supplies will have been refilled! :D maggie

Maggie Maggie Maggie, I'm with ya sister! Would you believe the gym teacher asked me yesterday as I'm toteing a screaming hungry 4 week old baby "Where have you been the past month? I need money from the PTO for ........" UUGGHH!! I honestly smiled and said "No where special, why?"

Menzy Mom- Let's not start with the appreciation thing......still too many emotions going on to think clearly! One teacher did ask the Principal (all 3 of us were discussing an issue) when I was going to recieve my weekend spa visit for all that I've done!!! God Bless her! Oh the Principal did smile! For Teachers Appreciation Week we make it Teacher/Staff/Secretary Whomever Week. Treats are brought in all week long by volunteers than ususally on Wednesday we provide everyone employed by the District a small token. Seems to work for us. Good luck
