Spirit Week

We do spirit days on Fridays, teachers and students wear school t's ( teacher's like to have a casual day-trust me- where they can wear jeans and a t') .

The class/or grade who has the most participants win the school spirit stick for the week , a big mop handle covered in streamers, bells and etc, with school colors.

Classes ( ie : kids) count and post the number on the clips by teachers doors, and the sped. kids collect and tabulate, the winner is announced before dismissal every friday. Regular class teachers do not have to lift a finger to help.

It helps us with the sale of school shirts every year, and the kids get really exicted about it. The Sped. kids get to deliver the stick to the wining class or a chosen class, if its a grade- and they get really exicted by it.

I think it is important to "brand" your school with a mascot and colors, so the kids understand the importance of being on a TEAM. Even tho' it's not high school!

By the way, our t's all have a educational or motivational message on the back, front is the little cute logo!
Good luck!

Our PTO has proposed a Spirit Week and are getting a lot of negative feedback from the teachers due to their busy schedules and concerns about behavior. They don't want us to steal something that is a typically high school event.

The PTO is porposing it because our school does not have a school color, mascot or any unique identification.

We are meeting with the teachers and I would appreciate any ideas and feedback. Thank you all!
