Feel free to check out the new mini collection pages on our website that I just added, consisting of Volunteer Poems, short versus and quotes - which I've gathered for quite some time now in a file folder, and finally put together on one page. Hopefully this will be a good resource for the presidents and volunteer chairmen to refer to - as needed.

Hope this helps.

A site you may want to visit is www.servenet.org. They have helpful info for volunteering as well as information on awards that are available for outstanding volunteers (kids included)!

Go to www.pta.org click onto bulletin boards and then click to PTA idea sharing. There are a bunch of volunteer poems here as well as teacher poems. As you can tell by now, I am PTA. However I believe we can all help each other out and work together. After all we all have the same common goal...the kids.

Here's a great site worth sharing. ( www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/fourh/volunteers/recognition/quotes.html ). Many will want to use one of these quotes to attach to a smal volunteer gift, or note on a monthly volunteer recognition certificate, or any other creative recognition.

In response to Critter, I feel happy appreciated volunteers can only benefit the kids. Staff appreciation week does not directly effect the students, however happy appreciated teachers can only benefit the students. In both cases the kids in the long run will see the positive effects.

I have tried to tie in Installation with recognition. I did an Herb installation and everyone recieved an herb plant of one kind or another. It was very inexpensive. We budget $100.00 for Installation/Recognition and have never spent over $50.00 This was enough to recognize 30 in and out going officers, and chairs. I still have the thyme plant in my garden that I received 5 years ago for volunteering my "time". One year I made 40 pressed flower book marks, with the school name and school year on the back. Just so they pick it up out of a book one day and remember. Recognizing these wonderful people doesn't have to be expensive, just sincere.
