I have received the best action when I have spoken to our superintendant of schools personally (with letter in hand). You may also include the names of families who feel the same way and let you share their names. The Super. knows that you will go to a public board meeting or the news about such things if it is not handled. If they do not realize it then won't they be surprised... again! Also let them know you expect communication on where they are on the project and to be notified when it is taken care of. You may also ask how the parents can be helpful to ammend the situation. Best Wishes!

I desperately need input! Last school year, I wrote letters to inform the school board about conditions at our school that I felt were not appropriate for a school environment i.e. mold growing on curtains, ceiling tiles held up by staples, open electrical outlets, etc. We also made a videotape and showed the school board. The next day district maintenance people were out at the school trying to fix alot of the problems. That was great! I should also note that the principal, who will not be returning, was quite upset about the videotape and how parents expressed their views at the school board meetings. The problem is that we have this one portable building that we use for a third grade classroom. It is termite infested with visual damage, a viscious hole in the door, and it is my opinion that this classroom is not an environment conducive to learning. Guess who's daughter will be in the portable come this August? Mine. What else can I do? Any suggestions and/or comments will be greatly appreciated.
