Establishing a new Parent Group at a new school

As you can guess the PTA person will make it sound like the PTA is so great. Just make sure that you get the real answers on the services they say you'll receive and how much those cost. We knew that the dues were expensive but we thought it included a lot. Turns out that we still have to pay (a lot!)to go to the convention and we only get one magazine for the whole group (if you want more you have to pay) and insurance isn't even included in the dues. It's another extra. We've been a PTA for 3 years, and this will likely be our last year.

We are taking a vote tomorrow night on which group we would like to link with. There will be a PTA representative there to talk about that association. I would like to talk about and promote PTO. Do you have any suggestions or comments?
