Our ASB sponsors the fun activities at school such as spirit week, Red Ribbon week, etc. They sponsor 1 dance a year. Other groups (6th grade, 7th grade, drama, etc.) may sponsor events/dances but the money goes through the ASB, not the PTSA.
We sponsor large fundraisers that take adults (cookie dough, magazines) to be highly involved. Where the money goes it decided upon at PTSA meetings but it usally is split among the grades for end of year activities. We also sponsor the 8th grade promotion activities.

We are a 6-8th grade school with a PTSA. Only events that are sponsored by the PTSA go through us (ones that we as a group control the spending of the profits). For other events, the ASB runs it through the school account. It is a very well balanced process for them to be able to spend the money (with many checks and balances).
I was wondering if anyone could give me the purpose of "ASB". I am on a PFA at a school that serves children from K-8 and they are wanting to run a lot of Jr. High events through us and my co-treasurer and I are thinking that they should handle it through their ASB. We are having a planning meeting for the new year at the end of the week and any information anyone could give me would help us discuss this with our principal, teachers, etc. Thank you!
