Silent Action

Here are some of the teacher experiences that I can remember from the past few years. I will go back over the files to make sure I have not missed any.

~ Teacher took 1 student and 1 friend for mini golf and ice cream

~ Librian delivered new Harry potter book and harry potter themed goody bag to house the day the book was released

~Teacher came to house to read bedtime story

~ Teacher offers pizza party to student and 4 friends in her classroom (Instead of lunch foom)

~Our Art teacher alsways does a collective class art project w/ the 2nd grade (amazing to watch 64 2nd grade parents bid on 1 piece)

~Our principal takes student and 3 friends to a local mionor league baseball game (includes lunch and transportation) We get the team to donate the 5 tickets so there is little cost to the principal

~Teacher takes 1 student and 3 friends hiking for 3 hours and a pinic lunch

~We get Ben and Jerries to donate and Ice Cream Party and parents bid so that their child's class has the party

~One teacher has a boat and she takes 4 out for a cruise (throughs in some history lesson on the way I am sure lol)

~One teacher is also a yoga instructor so she did a private kid's yoga class for student and 9 friends.

~ one teacher took a student and a friend to the movies.

Another suggestion is to end out a letter asking parents to donate services. You would be surprised what parents can offer. One of our parents has horses and offered 4 hours of horseback riding lessons and a trail ride ~~ went for huge money! Another parent owns a landscaping company and donated 5 yards of bark mulch delivered ~~ Went for over $200.00. One dad is a pilot so he took 4 people up for an arial tour. My favorite one yet was when I got the local fire department to let one of the kids ride in the fire truck down main street for the 4th of July town parade.

Will post more as they come to me. We are just starting to get this year's auctio going so as I come across new and fun ideas, I will pass them along.

I think this is a great idea, too! I would appreciate more information/ideas on what the teachers' themes were, as well, please. Could anyone give me their ideas for the class baskets? I think we could tie this into our annual Holiday Showcase (mid November)
Thanks for the wonderful advice.

Trisha- I would love to do the teacher ones...do you have a list of teacher experiences? Could you either post it here or send it to me by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thanks,

We also start the bidding at 1/3 the retail price. Some things go for over value and some things go under value.

A great hit at last years auction for us was teacher experiences. One of our teachers took 3 kids mini golfing and for ice cream. One teacher came to your house and read a bedtime story. Parents bid these throught the roof!

We did our first silent auction last year. We ask the provider to give us an estimated value for the item. We set the bidding price at either 1/4 or 1/3 the value of the item. We had the bid increments at $1 for items up to $25; $5 for items up to $75; $10 for items up to $150; $20 for all items $150 and above.

We mainly auctioned items donated from our local community businesses and gift baskets made by each class. I would appreciate it if you could email any active contact information you have to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

What do you start the bidding at? I would hate that they were sold at less than their value. Can someone share their fliers for their silent auction? Also, I know this is mentioned a thousand times over..but if anyone has an excell sheet with addresses of successful donors - could you share them with me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
