Taking a HIT on a fundraiser

I would try to dropping the price, or, these things will be around forever. Or, I guess you could just put thema way for now, and bring them out if you have any family night functions, and try to sell some then? It's a tough one. Good luck!

Our middle school stopped selling those since not many teachers let the kids take books home. Most of the books stayed in school in the desks, so they didn't ask them to cover them since they were shared. You also have to remember that little ones don't usually have books to cover, either.

Continue to sell at the regular price. Those that purchased early may be upset that had they waited, they could have gotten them cheaper. It may affect other sales as well as parents may wait for you to drop your price.
Save leftovers for next year and drop the price then.
In the meantime, ask teachers to reminds kids that still need to cover books to get them done and mention the book socks.

At our last meeting last year, we voted to discontinue one fundraiser in favor of a new one. Well the new one has totally shocked us all and NOT been very successful at all. (Stretchy book covers) Our president for some reason thought we need to purchase 2000 of them for a total enrollment(K-12) of less than 1K. So needless to say, I don't think we have even broken even yet... infact I am pretty sure we haven't at all.
So what would be your suggestions on how to handle this, keep pushing them? Box them up and hope they sell better next year? Drop the price and make what we can on them? They were custom made for our school with our name and Mascot on them. I think they were priced WAY too high... $5 ea. or 3 for $12. I think if we dropped the price to say 3 or 3.50 , me might come closer to getting rid of them . Then we will KNOW if we out priced ourselves or not.
What are your thoughts on this??
Prez wants to keep pushing them at original price, I think if we haven't sold them buy now at this price, we aren't going to sell anymore.. period. In order to keep from taking such a hit I think we need to revisit our price. instead of making 150% I would be happy with 50% -60% at this point.
