Boundaries

This is my 2nd year at PTO. The first year, I took the way I was told it always was ran and modified it. It became very suscessful. This year we have a new principal in our elementary school who has never been a princilple before and never worked in elementary ed, just high school. She has not been easy to work with and is not clear on just what she wants from us. It seems as if she just wants us to raise money and hand it over to her with no input from us as to what we want. She does not even acknowledge us in her news letters. I will not bore you with the details as to how we got to this, but the places that she wants to spend the money make no sense to 95% of us including teachers. It's driving me crazy and we can't function like we used to. What is the norm for a PTO? What are the boundaries? We like to support classroom supplies but she is making us give equal distribution to all even those who do not need anything then she is taking any leftover money that they have in their accounts at the end of the year and spending it on what she wants. She did not even tell me that, but I did confirm with her and she didn't seem happy that I asked. Is this normal??? By the way we are a low income school and it is very hard to fundraise. I would like to do what ever is best for the school (THE KIDS) and if this is the proper way then we may have to cope and most parents do not like it. Low modivation.
