Thanking community donors

Has anyone ever given business window cling decals that identify them as a supporter of the school? Kind of like displaying a Better Business Bureau sticker? Looking for an affordable source or similar ideas that have worked for others.

We do individual thank you notes shortly after the event or receipt of the donation (usually from the event chairman), then at the end of the year we provide letters signed by the principal and the parent group president, and certificates that the businesses can display if they wish. (You can buy certificate paper at Staples, Office Depot, etc.) Most businesses do put them on display, and seem very happy to have them. I'm uploading a copy of the certificate we use on the file exchange.

We send a thank you card and write the letter to the editor of the paper. Emials are to informal.

My school has taken out an ad in the local paper, as well as a type of thank you card.

You can't afford NOT to recognize community donors. Nothing says love like a hand print covered thank you card that they can display in their business, a reciprocal web link, a thank you note - anything - but do not ignore them.

We were fortunate to have our local hockey team donate tickets to our school. We had taken a picture of the students before they boarded the bus to the game and we used kodakgallery.com to make a photo card to send to the team and had the kids sign the card. We got a phone call from the community relations director telling us how touched he was to get such a cool and unique thank you card.

This year to thank our local business sponsors, we created certificates of appreciation and had them framed. Our board signed each one. We are sending the certificates along with a thank you letter detailing what we have done this year to each sponsor. And we are including an application to re-join along with a SASE to go with it.
