We do a "Sight Word a Thon" for our kids, but I'm curious what your KAT entails. Our building is Kdg-3. Can you email me any info? This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thanks!

We have been doing a KAT here in Shawano, WI for the past several years......we currently do it at both our elementary schools.....Pre-K thru 2 and 3 thru 5. At the school where I run the KAT, we have a little over 500 students....last year we raised just over $10,000......the money goes primarily to purchase birthday books for every student, to bring a Scientist in Residence program for a week, and to give money to each grade level to help with the costs of their spring field trips.

If you would like more information, call me... 715-524-2131 x3107

wow this sounds like an fabulous idea!! I looked at the link lisa posted and it sounds interesting. I would love to bring this to the table at our school kids would be thrilled to take on this type of fundraiser I think!! This is a good thing to get the kids and their families into focusing on learning with a secondary thought of raising funds!! I would love to be a leader in our area to hold one of these type fundraisers. we have 750 kids in our k-6 think we could really generate alot of money through this. :-)

one major question is how many questions do they have on their test?? Karla I will contact you seperately probably Tuesday for more information.

Thanks,
Angie

We just finished our second annual Knowledge-A-Thon. We have approximately 400 students with about half of them living in poverty. Each year (thus far) we have managed to earn more than $9,000. It is an amazing day for our volunteers, staff and students. We got some of our information from another local school and then created a few things on our own. No need to reinvent the wheel, if you'd like more information, holler!

I've heard that years ago our school used to do these and then over the years it just fell to the wayside. This year we are hoping to revive it because it's a great fundraiser that fosters education and learning. Will keep you updated!
