I'm interested in trying to start a clothing closet/food bank/community help center at my school through the PTO. We have a backpack program that gives children a backpack filled with food for the weekend but I would like to try to expand on this. I would like to get donations of food, clothing, hygiene products, diapers and more to give out to people in my community. We have a couple of centers in our town already but they are mostly just food. Does anyone know if I can do something like this with the PTO tax ID or would I have to start a new non-profit.
