looking for the best fundraising program

I absolutely dislike almost despise fundraisers. My mother stated it best when I was in school "Am I sending you to learn how to be a hustler?" It sometimes seems as if there is a fundraiser weekly. I am new to the PTO and pres. area this year I want so badly to change the opinions and future of this organization. Other officers are always asking me when are you going to do another fundraiser? We should and NEED to do one monthly. To me that leaves a begging concept in the mind of our parents.

One more quick question to everyone have or are any of your organizations familiar with the 2 hour volunteer program that PTO Today offers? Have any of you used it?

Hey Booster prez! It would be great if you could post the copy from your pitch packet right here on the message boards. We currently do an auction--which is fabulous and brings in a lot of money but it is VERY time consuming and people are slowly losing interest--we too are from Michigan and are a private school--we are feeling the pinch of the big three and people just don't want to give anymore. This seems like a way to keep people from having to buy a lot of "junk" that they necessarily do not want. Thanks in advance.

Our median income is probably close to $70K...we get about 60% participation of 600 school families (two school total - one PTA serves both schools) to raise that money...admittedly, most districts would likely have to lower those membership $ levels, but if you have a large district or school, you could still do very well, with minimum work...as long as you have mediums available (tv cable channel, local paper,eg) to promote your sponsors...

Boosterpres not sure if your still around for summer.

But a quick question what kind of income level is your area? Low, middle, high??
I think its a great idea, but I think we would have to adapt the fees and then it might work. Thanks for the great idea!!!!
