Fundraising after American Crisis

My deepest sympothy to those affected by our recent tragedy. We have a craft bazaar each year - a couple of years ago, we came up with "dress a bear" - the results were overwhelming - we had everything from cheerleaders, football players, dancers, etc. Everyone wanted to get involved. The "well-dressed" bears were then used as door prizes or sold. It was a great success. As far as your dinner/auction. We have had silent auctions in the past. Our parents usually came through with donations - carefully prepared gift baskets, certificates from local businesses, stuffed animals, one mother gave a certificate for monthly homemade goods, another a couple of hours of help around the house. Ask your parents - they are your best source of items. Good luck.

Our school is in Texas and thankfully only a small handfull of children were affected by this tragedy. We live only a few minutes from Houston Intercontinental Airport and many people that live in our neighborhood have been affected by the arilines lay-offs. Butin talking with parents, they are eager to on with their lives and so are their kids. We are proceeding with our "Octo-Bear" Blast (we are the Bears)which is a carnival type fundraiser. Each class will be responsible for entering a unique scarecrow in to our contest which will later be auctioned off. Then on to our Winter Extravaganza which will be a Dinner/Live Auction for adults only. Our middle school student council is babysitting for us which will have a movie night. Our school is in the middle of a fund raiser for the victims of 9-11-01. We call it "Pennies To Heaven". Our kids are also being pen pals with kids in the New York area. I am in charge of the Dinner/Auction--if anyone has any great ideas for the live or silent auction--pleeeease send them on to me, it is my first time to do this. I hope everyone has a great day!!
