When do you change fundraisers?

20 years 1 month ago #87450 by LUVMYKIDS
During our last PTO meeting there was a discussion of changing our fundraiser(s) for next year. I'd like to get some opinions/tips from the fundraising "experts" on the forum.

We started a new fundraiser two years ago. The first year we exceeded estimates, this year we exceeded estimates. It does require quite a bit of effort when the order forms/money is coming in, on the delivery day, and for about a week after as we correct any missing/wrong items. The rep has been really nice to work with and always brings samples when he stops by the school. All in all a good deal. The downfall is the product is perishable and requires quick pickup and delivery or having freezer storage.

Some members are asking for something different because it's inconvenient for them. The President is one. She presented a new fundraiser at the beginning of the year that involves items made with children's artwork. It's a cute concept and the parents liked it except it was very expensive and really limits you to selling only to family. We tried it and did okay, but far from the $$ we bring in with the other. She is recommending using it and a non-refrigerated cookie dough as fundraisers for next year.

Some parents are all for that idea and some are saying that we need to stick with what we know will bring in the money we need to cover our budget. It would also mean going from one fundraiser to two. Personally, I'm not for that. My kids are in scouts and do that fundraising too so I don't need anything else in my life.

Sooooo..... give me some advice on what you've found out with your fundraisers and making changes so I can present it at the next meeting and maybe we can get to some kind of a concensus. THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat.
