lumin, Your book fair with a coordinated event sounds like a great idea!! I'm not familiar with Books To Go. Could you pass on more info about them.

Thanks,
Jo

We have used Scholastic and Books To Go.
We also have an event coordinated with the evening hours one night during the book fair. We may sell ice cream sundaes or give away free ice cream cones. It helps the children encourage parents to bring them to the school and help them pick out books rather than parents just sending money with the child.
Next year we are trying to get a committment from a local semi pro sports team to come to our book fair and sign the books and read to the children. Just another incentive for parents to BRING the kids to the school and do the book fair as a family.

found another book fair source....at www.personalizedbookfairs.com/pbfinfo.htm

does anyone know anything about these folks? They sound pretty good.....you are given a list of titles they stock and you can pick and choose from them before they ship, so you would avoid getting the WWWF and all the other crap Scholastic carries. Thanks for the ealier response to my question about Fun Times or whatever the heck their name is. I had heard that the Santa's Workshop stuff was pretty low quality, too, but hadn't heard about their poor customer service.

I don't know about Fun Services book fairs, however, our pta stopped using them for Santa's Shop. The last time we used them they sent things we didn't order, broken items, and were just pretty junky. I'd see if they have this book fair at a local school and check it out first.

I'll appreciate any input you can give me on what you thought of their book fairs!
Thanks, a soggy Oregon Booster Pres

We, too, have been dissatisfied with Scholastic's services and prices. I talked with another PTO pres and she said they'd used Troll, but were disappointed with the quality of books they received and the profit margin. I just saw where Fun Times (the group that does the Santa's Workshop Sales and other stuff) offers a book fair and wondered if any of you have used it. They certainly seem to stress customer service, which would be refreshing!
