Scrapbook Fundraiser?

OK, we've had a few scrapbook crops over the last couple of years.
Number one, if you have it at the school, check to make sure there is no janitor fees involved. The first year I took it over, the district imposed a fee after the event of course, and a 12 hour crop with janitor fees of 45.00 per hour, well, you do the math, there went my big profit. The next year we had it at a banquet hall off school grounds, a good place with good food, but I had to gaurantee and pay for 50 people... well I only had 31 paying croppers, again, not a good profit. And remember, I was charging 35.00 per person to crop, we had 50/50's and raffles throughout the day. This year I switch to 2 5 hour crops at the school on a Friday night- it started at 5pm-- ended at 10pm. I served pizza and salad, plus drinks and desserts. I charged only 10.00 per person... You could charge 15.00 per. I had 50/50's and raffles during this time as well. This went great! Everyone had a great time, it wasn't high priced, so I had a good turn out. Next year that's all I'll be doing. When you have a crop, don't forget the chocolate- croppers crave that little pick me up half way through. And as far as donations go, if you start early and go on line searching the scrapbook supply companies... you can find quite a few that will donate something- most need 60-90 days notice, but it's worth it... you can get some great prizes, same goes for desserts- hit up your local bakeries, even doughnut stores-- get as much donated as possible.
Good luck!

We are doing this at our school and it works out great because the Chairperson is a scrapbooker so she totally does everything to run it. Find someone who knows about scrapbooking. I think this is an easy fundraiser and if you dont scrapbook it is hard to tell fellow officers what its all about.

We charged $10 for our crop and that included lunch and snacks which were donated. Die hard scrapbooker know how great an all day crop is. If I'm packing my stuff up and dragging it out I want it to be an all day thing. Ours was only from 10am to 4pm. We had a good turnout. The $10 was all profit becasue the food was donated by volunteers. We have a lot of Creative Memories consultants in our area and are considering inviting them to a crop to sell their stuff. It would be a good way to entice more people. Even people that don't scrapbook, hold a mini-class on what its about. That could be free and offered at the beginning.

Robin,

Thanks for telling us more about the Scrapbook fundraiser. You're right people who don't crop don't get it. But those who do would be all over an all day crop. $35 is a great price esp. if it includes meals. I love scrapbooking but never seem to have time to do it on my own. The group crops are lots of fun too.

So did you schedule your own crop with the store?

while that menu is " easy" .. it's all carbs.. it wouldn't hurt to buy a few bags of apples.. or maybe some bags of baby carrots and dips so people have alternatives to just carbs all day!

I am hoping to get pizza for dinner and get it at cost or donated. Subs for lunch for cost or donated. And bagels and/or donuts for breakfast.

As for donations for everything else, I have high hopes!! I may get crushed, but that is learning right? I just started with my own scrapbook supplies and I looked up every manufacturer and I am going to start with them!
