Boxtops contest?

One year I did a ladder where we climbed to the top, I've also seen a space theme: "Reaching for the stars," and a wishing well. The wishing well was really cute. I think that is how one of our playgrounds was built (with box top money), one year it was for an outside water fountian that was vandalized a month after it was put it, then there was the mulch. The group I am involved in now is not in charge of the box tops but we help promote them because the money goes toward the D.A.R.E. program and maybe field trips.

I've also seen goals with various programs that did things when the goal was reached such as; the principal cross dressing, getting duct taped to the wall, pie in the face, shaving his head, standing on roof (it was a one story building), kissing an animal, and so on. Kids get a kick out of things like that. There is little or no cost and everyone is happy...except maybe the principal. ;)

We do a goal as well. In the past we have bought playground equipment and last year we bought our mascot costume with box top money.

If you want an early kickstart, how about a big "Back to School with Boxtops!" incentive. It's a great way to get families to send in the boxtops they've hopefully been saving over the summer.

Rather than individual incentives, how about picking an item that benefits the whole school that can be purchased once enough boxtops are collected? You can post a goal chart in a conspicuous place so the students can see it.

We have two grades. The top two winners from each grade get to play dodgeball against each other at the end of the month. I think the year end winners get a party.

I'd be careful about singling students out too much. Not everyone can afford Box Top products. I know several times I've had to resist that little 10 cents logo staring me in the face and buy a cheaper brand. :(

Out PTO provides a week of "box tops" snacks for the classroom that collects the most bx tops.

Our kindergarten and 1st grades compete against one another and 2-4 competes. There is 1 winner from each group. Those 2 classes win a pizza party for bringing in the most box tops.

Then, the top student from EACH class k-4 gets to have a party with the principal. Last year they had a Sandy Candy party.
